Hillwood @ Argyle Intermediate School

Mineral owners, town officials, Hillwood and Williams have worked together to establish two pad sites on either side of Argyle Intermediate School, despite the objections of the Argyle-Bartonville Communities Alliance.

ABCAlliance is opposed to this site development for three primary reasons: improper setbacks between the gathering pipelines and school property (which includes the administration building), a high-risk truck route, and inadequate control of emissions.

AISD parents concerned about their child’s well-being, at this point, have little recourse. The pipeline is already installed; drilling has been permitted. It is unclear why drilling did not begin this summer. The size of the units likely means continuous operations for many months, perhaps lasting most of the entire school year, once drilling begins.

We strongly recommend that parents review the district’s emergency evacuation plan and be aware that they may need to drive to Robson Ranch to pick up children in the event of an emergency. ABCAlliance members continue to provide feedback to district officials about emergency plans, including recently recommending that two busses always be kept at the intermediate campus expressly for evacuating the school and administration if they cannot cross the railroad tracks.
